Technology Assessment

About two weeks. One fixed fee. A roadmap you can act on.

Before you buy anything, migrate anything, or sign anything — know where you stand. The Firm Technology & AI Readiness Assessment is the front door to everything we do.

What We Examine

Your systems, your people's real work, and where it leaks

We ask about systems, roles, workflow volume, remote work and the outcomes you want — not about client matters. Please don't send matter documents through the website.

Systems & Data

Practice management, research, documents, email, accounting, phones — what you have, who owns each account, which system holds the authoritative record, and what you pay for but don't use.

Workflows & Roles

How matters actually move — intake to closing — by role and volume, including remote work, and where hours leak out of the day.

Security & Continuity

Access controls, MFA coverage, offboarding, backups and a restore test, written policies, and incident readiness.

AI Use & Readiness

Every AI tool and built-in feature in use, where its inputs go, and where AI can genuinely help — including SB 574 setup gaps for California firms.

The Deliverable

A written roadmap, not a sales pitch

You get a prioritized, budgeted plan you could hand to any consultant — including not us. If you do proceed with an implementation, the assessment fee is credited toward it. Roadmaps typically sequence work across practice management, AI adoption, and infrastructure.

Systems Map & Findings

A map of your systems and data flows, plus plain-English findings — costs, risks, redundancies, quick wins — each with the evidence behind it.

Prioritized Roadmap

What to fix first, second, and not at all — sequenced with estimated costs, selection criteria for anything new, and what a pilot should prove before you commit.

Readout Session

A working session with your partners to walk the roadmap, answer the hard questions, and decide what happens next — on your timeline.

How ready is your firm? Score yourself in two minutes.

Eight quick questions to start a conversation — a rough grade, not the full assessment. Answers are scored entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to us or stored.

1. How does your firm manage matters, time, and billing today?
2. How much of the software you pay for does your team actually use?
3. Is anyone at your firm using AI tools for client work?
4. Does your firm have a written AI policy?
5. When new technology rolls out, what training comes with it?
6. Is multi-factor authentication (MFA) enforced on email and key systems?
7. If your office lost every computer tomorrow, how bad would it be?
8. How do your attorneys handle legal research?

Common Questions

Assessment FAQs

How much of our time does it take?
Typically 3–5 hours from your side across about two weeks: a kickoff conversation, short interviews with a few role representatives, and read-only access to the systems being reviewed. Please don't send client matter documents through our website; anything sensitive is exchanged under the engagement, through a channel agreed in writing.
Is this just a sales funnel for your other services?
The roadmap is written to be actionable by anyone — internal staff, another consultant, or us. The assessment fee is credited toward implementation if you choose us, but the deliverable stands on its own. Some clients take the roadmap and run it themselves; that's a fine outcome.
We're a small firm. Is this overkill?
The assessment scales down for solos and small firms — shorter, cheaper, same structure. With no IT department, the roadmap often becomes the firm's whole technology plan.
Does the assessment cover SB 574?
For California firms, yes, if you want it to: we inventory the AI tools and features in use, map who can access what goes into each, and review verification, correction, and disclosure steps against the enacted text. You get setup gaps and next steps — not a legal opinion or a compliance score.
